Housing Enterprise D. Amélia

This renovation and rehabilitation work is intended to convert the “Antigo Dispensário de Alcântara” building into a new housing condo, designated “D. Amelia”.
Located in the “Estrela” neighborhood, the “Antigo Dispensário de Alcântara” opened in 1893 and is part of an important series of social works created by Queen D. Amelia, whose commitment to the implementation of science and medicine in the service of the population was at the origin of a new and advanced concept of social care in Portugal.

This renovation therefore intends to convert this new housing condominium into a set of seven distinct apartments and an independent “Villa”, aiming at the main structure and character of the building as the main goal, fully preserving its configuration and its facades.The project was founding to be the basis of a permanent dialogue between the values ​​to be preserved and the future use of spaces by reconciling existing historical details with the current housing demands.
Maintaining its full equity value, as well as the original language and style, this new housing condo was designed so as to endow apartments with adequate conditions of habitability and full of comfort.
The development consists of two T2 Duplex apartments, one loft apartment, four T3 Duplex apartments and a “Villa” with independent entrance. Access to apartments is done through a central yard and, also includes a basement floor, containing service areas, storage and car parking spaces.
